Foothills Forage and Grazing Association (FFGA), in partnership with Foothills County, will host an event on June 16 to recognize the International Year of the Rangeland and Pastoralists.

From Settlement to Stewardship: Ranching in the Foothills will take place starting at East Longview Hall.

“After lunch we’ll convoy out to a native pasture nearby and do some stuff there,” said Kayla Giles, communications coordinator with Foothills Forage and Grazing Association.

“We’re partnering with Foothills County, and they wanted to do an event to showcase some rangelands in the Foothills County, as well as from western history of some long-standing ranches in this area,” said

In the morning, they will be doing some ranch history and western settlement topics, while the afternoon will feature some land trusts speaking on different projects they’ve done in the Foothills. Ben Campbell and Alex Robertson will do a walkthrough on some native pasture along with speaking on grazing management in the Foothills area.

The event will take place from 9:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with lunch provided at noon. The cost is $25 for FFGA members and $35 for non-members.
